According to reports, Jane Fonda has “quietly” cancelled her March 2006 cross-country bus trip. FOX News is reporting Fonda has scrapped the idea stating hurricane Katrina was the reason for her cancellation. Many Americans think there was much more to her decision than just hurricane Katrina.

Veterans Rights Activist Jere Beery of Jefferson Ohio thinks Fonda was looking for an excuse to scrap her planned bus excursion. “There was a very serious effort underway to stop Fonda from even leaving the parking lot,” Beery said. Jane Fonda was very wise to back down,” he added.

On July 25th, sixty’s anti-war activist Jane Fonda, (aka; "Hanoi Jane"), announced plans to take a cross-country bus tour to begin in March of 2006 calling for an end to U.S. military operations in Iraq. “I can’t go into any detail except to say that it’s going to be pretty exciting,” Fonda said.

Vietnam combat disabled veteran Jere Beery was organizing a similar bus tour to protest Jane Fonda’s trek. Known as “The Ghost Patrol”, the anti-Fonda shadow-bus tour was developed to promote support for our troops, and bring attention to U.S. veteran’s affairs, as well as show disapproval for Jane Fonda’s obvious relapse of bad judgment. “The Ghost Patrol publicly demanded Fonda cancel her bus tour two months ago. I’m glad she finally got the message,” Beery said.

Beery is not alone in his contempt for Jane Fonda. Many veterans saw Fonda’s planned bus tour as nothing more than a publicity stunt to sell her newly released book, “My life so far”. “If her intentions were honorable, she wouldn't charge people to hear her accounts. If she were truly a born again Christian, she would give her war-time accounts away. The truth is, Jane Fonda is a Profiteer looking for controversy to increase book sales, and she has pushed the boundaries of a very small envelope,” Beery claimed.

Last week Beery announced the cancellation of his personal involvement in the GP project to devote his time and efforts to help hurricane Katrina victims along the U.S. Gulf Coast. At that time, Beery also suggested Jane Fonda cancel her bus tour immediately for the same reasons he did. “Apparently, she took my advice,” Beery claimed. “The peculiar part about this story is how quietly her cancellation was announced,” Beery concluded.

Beery said that The Ghost Patrol web page will stay up on his site and that the GP could be reactivated at any time. “Evidently, in the eyes of many, the GP project is not dead. The GP will be out there, whether I’m there or not,” Beery claims.  www.jerebeery.com

Veteran’s Rights Activist, Jere Beery of Jefferson, Ohio has cancelled his plans to follow 60’s anti-war icon, Jane Fonda and her planned 2006 cross-country bus tour.

According to Jere Beery, the urgent situation created by Hurricane Katrina dwarfs any pending political or public relations projects. “If Jane Fonda wants to prance across country in her “environmentally correct” bus while Americans suffer and die, she can go right ahead. If “Jane” were smart, and a True Born Again Christian, she would immediately cancel her bus tour and devote her resources to relief efforts also,” Beery suggested. “As for the Ghost Patrol concept itself, it lives on, no matter what. The Ghost Patrol is always there,” Beery added.

Jere Beery is asking his fellow veterans to follow his lead and assist in emergency relief efforts. “We have several locations across the country that were in the process of collecting donations and supplies for the Fonda Shadow Bus project. I have requested they all redirect their efforts and materials towards hurricane victims. This is an extremely urgent situation, and Baby Jane will just have to wait to have her “Coming Out Party,” Beery concluded.

Jane Fonda could not be reached for comment.

PRESS RELEASE #1

The Ghost Patrol's motto is "Support Our Troops By Protecting Their Benefits."

On March 6, 2006, the infamous Hanoi Jane Fonda intends to launch a cross-country bus tour to publicly protest American operations in Iraq.

The Ghost Patrol is a grassroots project in the planning stages of a bus convoy of their own. Their objective is to follow the 60’s anti-war icon cross country from town to town. Ghost Patrol organizers fear that Ms. Fonda’s bus tour may adversely affect the moral of our deployed troops much as she did during the Vietnam War. In addition to shadowing Fonda’s every move and drumming up support for our troops, the Ghost Patrol will carry a message of much needed attention to veteran’s affairs in the U.S. GP organizers are publicly demanding Jane Fonda cancel her planned March bus tour immediately.

The Ghost Patrol is a peaceful/non-violent ANTI-FONDA, PRO-TROOPS and VETERANS, inspired concept.

Several former POWs from the Vietnam are expected to join the Ghost Patrol at points along the route.
